Human beings see with their brain, not with their eyes.

  •  Eyes, let us see and distinguish between objects of various sizes, shapes and colours at just first glance. However, do you know that the function of eyes is not just limited to these functions only? The moment we look at something, how is it that we know what we are looking at? It's just because of over 200 million working parts in our eyes that start working in co-ordination and send all the information, relating to that object, the moment we look at it. Amazing, isn't it?

  •  Today, let's look at some amazing facts about the human eye.

Amazing facts about human eye:

  1. Our eyes are made up of over 200 million working parts.
  2. Each eye contains 107 million cells and all are light sensitive.
  3. Seven million 'cones' in the eyes helps us see different colours and details while the 100 million 'rods' helps us distinguish between black and white.
  4. Retinas perceive the outside world as upside down and it is the human brain that flips the image so that we see it as it is placed
  5. The 'red' receptor in the eyes only detects yellow-green colour, and the 'green' receptor detects blue-green. Your brain combines these signals and turns them into red because eyes cannot see the colour 'red'
  6. In short sightedness or Myopia, the eyeball is longer than normal and distant objects are appeared to be blurred. Long sightedness or Hypermetropia, the eyeball is shorter than average and it cannot clearly see nearby objects
  7. Human eye is constantly making tiny jerking movements called 'Microsaccades' to stop objects from fading from your vision
  8. The world's most common eye colour is BROWN.

  • Human beings see with their brain, not with their eyes. Human eyes function like a camera, capturing light and sending data back to the brain

  1. Eyes become tired when you read or stare at a computer, this is because you blink less often
  2. Eyes remain the same size from birth
  3. In a year, human beings blink 4,200,000 times on an average
  4. The human eye can function at 100 percent at any given moment
  5. The human eye can distinguish about 10 million different colours.
